Author Guidelines

Previously unpublished works on the profile of the journal are accepted for publication. Articles representing separate stages of incomplete research and articles devoted to research performed in violation of ethical norms and rules and norms of humane treatment of bioobjects are not accepted for publication. The decision on publication is made by the editorial board of the journal after reviewing the manuscript, taking into account the scientific significance and relevance of the submitted materials. The Editorial Board is guided by the "Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals" (www.ICMJE.org). Articles rejected by the Editorial Board are not accepted and reviewed again.

The article should be written in Russian or English, submitted in one printed copy in the format of any version of Microsoft Word for Windows text editor and sent electronically to the e-mail of the Editorial Board. The article should be accompanied by a reference (cover letter) from the institution where the scientific work was done.

Manuscript. It should be sent to the editorial office in electronic version via online form on the journal's website www.vestnikemrt.ru in Microsoft Word format (with extension *doc, *docx, *rtf).

The recommended volume of the full text of the manuscript (original research, scientific reviews and lectures), including tables and reference list is up to 20 A4 pages. If exceeding the recommended volume of the article, in the author's opinion, is justified, and the text cannot be reduced, the decision on publication is made at the meeting of the editorial board on the recommendation of the reviewer.

Manuscript text format. The text should be printed in Times New Roman font, 12 pt size and 1.0 pt line spacing. Indentation on each side of the page is 2 cm. Highlights in the text can be made ONLY in italics or bold, but NOT in underlining. All repetitive spaces and unnecessary line breaks should be removed from the text (in automatic mode through Microsoft Word "find and replace" service).

The file with the text of the article uploaded to the form for manuscript submission should contain all information for publication (including figures and tables), UDC of the article. The structure of the manuscript should correspond to the template:

Russian-language abstract

Title of the article.

Authors of the article. When writing the authors of the article, the surname should be indicated before the initials of the first name and patronymic (Ivanov P.S., Petrov S.I., Sidorov I.P.).

Name of the institution. The official FULL name of the institution (without abbreviations) and e-mail address for contacting the authors should be given. If authors from different institutions took part in writing the manuscript, it is necessary to correlate the names of institutions and authors' full names by adding numeric indices in upper case before the names of institutions and surnames of corresponding authors.

The summary of the article should be (if the work is original) structured: relevance, purpose, materials and methods, results, discussion, conclusions. The summary should fully correspond to the content of the work. The volume of the text of the summary should be within 100-300 words.

Keywords. It is necessary to specify keywords - from 5 to 10, contributing to the indexing of the article in search engines. Keywords should be matched in pairs in Russian and English.

English-language abstract.

Article title. The English-language title should be competent from the point of view of the English language, while in terms of meaning fully correspond to the Russian-language title.

Author names. Author names should be written according to the foreign passport, or the same as in previously published articles in foreign journals. Authors publishing for the first time and not having a foreign passport should use the BGN/PCGN transliteration standard.

Affiliation. The OFFICIAL ENGLISH NAME of the institution and e-mail address for contacting the authors should be given.

Abstract: The English-language version of the article summary should be fully consistent with the Russian-language one in terms of meaning and structure and be literate from the point of view of the English language.

Keywords. It is necessary to specify the keywords - from 5 to 10, contributing to the indexing of the article in search engines.

Additional information.

Conflict of Interest Information. Authors should disclose potential and apparent conflicts of interest related to the manuscript. Any situation (financial relations, service or work in institutions with financial or political interest in the published materials, official duties, etc.) that can influence the author of the manuscript and lead to concealment, distortion of data or change their interpretation can be considered a conflict of interest. The presence of a conflict of interest in one or more authors is not a reason for refusal to publish an article. The concealment of potential and apparent conflicts of interest on the part of the authors detected by the Editorial Board may be a reason for refusal to review and publish the manuscript.

Source of funding. The source of funding for both the scientific work and the process of publication of the article (foundation, commercial or state organization, private person, etc.) should be indicated. It is not required to indicate the amount of funding.

Acknowledgements. Authors can express gratitude to people and organizations that contributed to the publication of the article in the Journal, but are not its authors.

It is necessary to specify the contact information of the author for correspondence and ORCID ID of each author of the article.

The text of the article (in Russian, English) should be structured by sections and follow the generally accepted template and contain the following sections: introduction (relevance), aim and objectives, materials and methods (patients and methods), results, conclusions, discussion (discussion).

Supplementary materials should be provided in Russian and English:

Tables - in black-and-white version in one file with the text of the article and each table should be referenced in the text. Tables are provided with thematic headings and numbered with Arabic numerals in the order of their mentioning in the text. All columns in tables should have headings. Words in tables should not be abbreviated. All abbreviations should be deciphered in the notes to the table.

Illustrations (graphs, charts, photographs, bar drawings) are provided in one file with the text of the article. On the graphs it is necessary to indicate the quantities, the values of which are given on the axes, and the designation of their dimensions. All physical dimensions are recommended to be given in the international SI system. Each figure should be referenced in the text. Captions to illustrations are placed in the text of the article at their first mention. The details in the schemes are indicated by Arabic numerals or letters of the Latin alphabet and decoded in the captions. Illustrations are numbered in the order in which they are mentioned in the text. When referring to an illustration in the text, its number and alphabetic and numeric designations of its details should be indicated, for example: (Fig. 1, a). Graphs and schemes should be made with the help of vector programs (Excel, Corel Draw, PowerPoint) and sent as separate files with preserving the formats used for their creation. If they were made in other vector programs, it is necessary to use EPS, WMF format. Photos should be sent as separate files in JPEG, TIFF formats with a resolution of 300-600 dpi. Images used in the article, protected by copyright law, should be accompanied by written permission of copyright holders for their publication.

The name and symbols of genes are typed in italics, and the names of their products are typed in straight type, for example: genes fos, c-myc, ATM; proteins fos, c-Myc, ATM. Mobile element designations, e.g., hobo element, and the first three letters of restriction site names, e.g., HindIII, are italicized. The names of phages and viruses are written in Latin transcription directly, without italics.

Mathematical formulas and equations are placed in the center of the line and numbered with Arabic numerals in parentheses in the order in which they are mentioned in the text.

Bibliographic references within the text are arranged using the Harvard style: in parentheses (author's surname without initials, date). If a publication has two authors, both surnames and the year of publication are indicated: (Wells, 2019). Works of three or more authors are cited as follows: (Ridley et al., 2018; Nikiforov и др., 2021). References to publications of different years are arranged in chronological order: (Smirnov и др., 2017; Soh, Chew, 2018; Malygin, 2020). When citing works of the same year, references are in alphabetical order, first Russian, then foreign surnames: (Petrov et al., 2019; Goldbeter et al., 2019). If several papers by the same author or the same co-authors published in the same year are cited, Russian or Latin lowercase letters are added to the year in alphabetical order, for example: (Semyonov et al., 2015a, b; Smith, 2017a, b). The order of letters is determined by the position of the article in the Literature/References section.

The itemized bibliographic list "Literature/References" should contain a complete bibliographic description of all literary sources referenced in the text. Only peer-reviewed sources - articles from scientific journals and monographs - should be included in the reference list. Bibliographic references should be verified, and the output data should be checked on the official website of journals and/or publishers. Information about such sources as dissertations, textbooks, State Standards, statistical reports, articles in socio-political newspapers, websites and blogs should be footnoted.

Sources are cited in alphabetical order, first in Russian together with a translation into English, then in foreign languages with the surnames and initials of all authors of each publication. In an article in English, translation of sources into Russian is not required. Works of the same author are arranged in chronological order. If the list contains several works by the same author published in the same year, they are given letter designations: 2020a, b, c; for English-language sources: 2020 a, b, c.

The reference to the article from the journal should contain: comma separated list of ALL AUTHORS (surname and initials are not separated by comma, a dot is placed after each initial). The title of the article. Name of the journal. Output data: year, volume, issue number, page numbers - are given without spaces in the format: 2020;5(2):18-27. At the end of the reference indicate DOI.

References to sources published in Russian are given in one paragraph: first in the original language, then after the dot in square brackets in English as indicated in the cited article, if the journal publishes a translation of the title and full name of the authors in English. At the end of the reference is an indication of the language of the work: (in Russian). If the cited source does not have English translations of the title and full names of the authors, the reference should be Latinized, except for the title: it should be translated into English. The BSI standard should be used for transliteration of authors' names and journal titles. It is inadmissible to abbreviate the title of the article.

The number of cited works: in original articles and lectures up to 20 sources are allowed, in scientific reviews - up to 60 sources.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The manuscripts are accepted if has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere.

  2. The materials should be prepared in a format OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or World Perfect.

  3. Internet links are provided as a complete URL. 

  4. Text should be typed with an interval of one and a half line spacing, font Times New Roman, 14 pt; to highlight the accents it is recommended to use italics rather than underlining (except Internet links). All images, graphics and tables are placed within the text according to the meaning of the particular part of text  (and not at the end of the document).

  5. Text should follow the stylistic and bibliography requirements as stated in  Regulations  located in the Part "About Us." 

  6. Please, remove the authors' names from the title of the article and other parts of the document to ensure the  anonymity of reviewing.
